On December 21, 2015 at 11:49ET, the Soltice will be exact. In the Northern hemisphere, it will signal Winter and for the Southern it will signal Summer. Either way, harsh weather is coming and whether you impose energy of Capricorn on the idea of icy wasteland or on scorching dryness, they both carry the same theme.
It is the theme of being ruled by the immediate necessity to make lasting results. It is about taking what is largely deemed currently unusable by many and building a legacy upon it. In the North, it is the rebirth of the Sun. The winter solstice does not signal His immediate return though. There is a gradual building of the Sun’s vitality that has to take place that is often glossed over here. Yes, the day begins to grow longer but there is a period of waiting that needs to happen before seeds can grow and life can speed back up to the pace that occurred before winter’s slumber.
That is the Capricorn energy we know. Most people prefer the shoulder seasons (spring and fall) due to their more balanced nature. The cold and heat are better balanced and we as humans are better able to navigate and accomplish our goals during these times. Winter and Summer, however, are harsh. Winter brings a cold that causes most of us to huddle indoors and wait for the bone chilling temps to pass. Summer brings about heat that cause most to dream of abandoning working due to lack of productivity. That is the framework that Capricorn works in and that is why its ambitious ideas are legendary. Capricorn energy sees that there is still a way to make things happen during these barren times but patience is key.
We can attribute this to Capricorn being an Earth element. Earth elements deal in practical manifestation. Even with a Cardinal modality, Capricorn is willing to wait. The payoff down the line, just outside of its immediate view, is the goal of Capricorn energy. This is what we celebrate. We celebrate the ability to hold on. To see a glimmer of hope and nurture that seed into something that many just luck up on. Capricorn is about respecting time enough to let it work on our side. To dial into the cyclical nature of life and the universe and use it to our benefit on a practical and material scale. Because honestly, who during their first encounter with harsh and unfogiving winter believes that budding flowers will come again in time. Capricorn does and understands that moving forward not just in faith but with preparation and extended action will bring about the harvests of spring and fall.
I hope this Yule/Winter Solstice embues you with the “sticktoitness” that Capricorn is known for and that you are able to plan for the future while balancing the need to live for today.
Happy Winter Solstice Y’all!!!
